reckoned to be at least thirty per cent more efficient than other other types. Being the first line of filtration,
the largest airborne particles are caught at this point. It is necessary to change this filter after approximately
three months of use. Usefully a usage counter and indicator will warn of the necessity to change the
filter.
The second filter
installed in the Hunter air purifiers / cleaners product range is the Hepa filter. The Hepa filter was first
developed and used during the second world war to capture radioactive pollutants whilst developing the atomic
bomb. Hepa stands for 'High Efficiency Particulate Air' and is capable of removing over 99 percent of
particles as small as 0.3 micron size. This filter should be renewed after one year of continual use.
To avoid a lesser period it is best to adhere to the recommended renewel time of
the pre filter ie. the activated carbon filter. This will prevent larger particles reaching the Hepa
filter. Very fine dust, pollen, smoke and dust mite faeces are captured with this filter. These
pollutants have an adverse effect on sufferers of asthma and other respiratory problems and therefore their
removal can only be beneficial.
